Dr. Maia Chankseliani presented a paper (co-authored by Dr. Susan James) at the European Conference on Educational Research The Past, Present and Future of Educational Research in Europe in Porto, Portugal.

ECER Annual Conference is the largest event in the field of educational research in Europe and attracts international group of over 2000 academics, researchers, and practitioners in multiple disciplines. It is organised by European Educational Research Association that is made up of more than 20 national and regional Educational Research Associations from all parts of Europe.

Maia Chankseliani’s presentation was titled ‘Overcoming vocational prejudice: Can skills competitions improve the attractiveness of vocational education and training in the UK?’ This study used the data from 110 interviews with WorldSkills competitors and their associates to examine the potential contributions of skills competitions to revitalise vocational education and training in the UK.
