Away Day, "SKOPE projects, discussion of progress"

Invitation only

The theme for the day is ‘SKOPE’s third research programme – progress and discussion.’ With the onset of global recession, the environment has changed radically since the research programme was initially designed. Ensuring that the programme develops and evolves so as to take account of changing realities and emerging policy problems is extremely important. Ken Mayhew and Ewart Keep will open the away day by providing a brief overview of how they see the programme developing and the challenges that lie ahead.  One element of this presentation will be three scenarios for how the English E&T scene may develop over the next few years.

The primary aim of the away day, however, is to provide an opportunity for theme leaders and project managers to come together and discuss the progress that is currently be made. The majority of the day will be given over to this activity, with theme leaders and project managers invited to provide a brief overview of current projects.  Presentations should be relatively short and informal (around 5-10 minutes), the objective being to highlight any logistical/methodological issues or headline findings. This will be an opportunity for members to learn more about particular projects and for project leaders to gain useful and constructive feedback on their work.
