Research Details

Dr Niaz Asadullah is a Professor in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Malaya. He is also a Research Fellow at Institute for the Study of Labor, Bonn, Germany (IZA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He received his masters and doctoral degrees in Economics from Oxford University. His research focuses on the economics of education, skills, and development in South Asia. Recent published work includes analyses on economic returns to education in the labour market and agricultural production, intergenerational economic and schooling mobility, inequality of educational opportunity, the rise of Islamic schools and the quality of secondary schools and madrasas in Bangladesh. He has provided consultancy services abroad in the field of education and development to organisations such as the World Bank. Further details can be found in
