Research Details

Caroline Lloyd is a SKOPE Senior Research Fellow and professor at the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University. Her research focuses on the relationship between product markets, labour markets, work organisation and skills. She has written widely on issues related to the political economy of skill and the link between skills and competitive strategy. She has a particular interest in comparative research and has participated in international projects on low wage work, co-editing Low-Wage Work in the United Kingdom (2008 Russell Sage Foundation). Her current research involves a European comparative study of work organisation and performance in the service sector, with a focus on vocational teachers, fitness instructors and café workers in the UK, Norway and France. She is associate editor of Industrial Relations Journal and series editor of the Palgrave studies Critical Perspectives on Work and Employment.
