Prof. Ewart Keep attended an event run by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) in Glasgow on the 12th March

Mar 16, 2015

Prof. Keep was speaking to PhD students taking part in a unique programme aiming to provide new knowledge and insight into key Scottish skills issues.
The doctoral research programme was established in 2013 in a partnership between SDS and the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences (SGSSS) which hosts the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Centre in Scotland.
Current research topics in the programme include the transition from education to work, employer voices in the skills system, gender and occupational segregation in apprenticeships, career pathways and their outcomes, models of collaborative working in employability and the role of social networking in Career Management Skills.
The speakers at the event included: senior SDS staff member Gordon McGuiness, Professor Simon Burnett of the SGSSS, the University of Stirling’s Professor Tara Fenwick and Professor Ewart Keep of SKOPE.
Dr Patrick Watt, Lead Head of Evaluation, Research and LMI at Skills Development Scotland said “This event allowed all those involved with the PhD programme to come together for the first time to talk about the range of exciting research going on across Scotland.
Prof. Keep told the student that the programme should be copied elsewhere as it is a tremendous long-term resource, which will help the Scottish policy and VET research communities to deliver high-quality evidence-based policy and practice.
